Phlebotomy (Blood Testing) Clinics

Blood Tests are carried out by the practice nurse in the morning time Monday-Friday. A courier takes these bloods mid morning to Beaumont hospital. The type of blood tests taken will be decided by the Doctor at prior consultation. You may be asked to fast for your blood tests. Please make an appointment at reception to have your bloods done.

Blood results; Due to the large number of tests taken on a daily basis it is not possible for patients to be contacted individually with results. It is important that you contact the surgery for your results and do not assume that ' no news is good news' .  Occasionally samples are not processed or results not communicated by the lab and it is important that you contact us so that  results are not missed.  We ask that  you ring for results 7-10 days after your tests were perfomed. PLease call in the afternoon and leave your name and contact phone number and a member of staff will get back to you with your results within 48 hours. .

If an urgent result is received, the doctor on duty will contact you by phone.  Please update contact information if phone numbers change.

The results of tests that were requested by a hospital doctor will be sent directly to the doctor who requested them, and they will then communicate the results to you. If you have not receive results requested by  the hospital  - it is advisable that you contact the consultant secretary directly.

Portmarnock family practice staff can only report on results of tests that they have requested or performed for you.
